On behalf of the Presidential Search Committee, I hope that you had a Happy Thanksgiving and are looking forward to a wonderful holiday season. Since my last update, the PSC has been diligently working on fulfilling its charge to recommend for Board approval a candidate to become the 15th President of Gettysburg College.
As shared in a previous update, the fall has been devoted to the actual recruiting process with the help of our search consultants, Russell Reynolds Associates (RRA). The PSC has met to review the professional profiles of a robust and diverse group of qualified candidates that have been recruited with the help of RRA, with the goal of identifying those who will be invited to an interview with the PSC. We left that meeting excited, impressed, even flattered by the caliber of professionals who are interested in leading Gettysburg College. Many described to RRA that their candidacy was driven by our College’s reputation for academic excellence and commitment to a liberal arts education. You won't be surprised to learn that some candidates added that their respect for Dr. Janet Morgan Riggs served as an added impetus.
The committee is now embarking on multiples sets of interviews over the next couple of months. We remain on target with the original plan for a Spring 2019 announcement of the 15th President.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to recognize two groups. The first is you, our college community. You have been engaged, supportive, and forthcoming throughout the process thus far. Second, I'd like to recognize the members of the PSC for their efforts. Each has spent a week or more of their time studying candidate profiles; and, now will devote multiple days to the face-to-face interview phase.
This may be the final update until the Board of Trustees announces their decision on our 15th President.
Best regards and best wishes for a wonderful holiday season and year end!
