Stewart Petrovits '91

"My wife and I chose to create a Gettysburg Fund Scholarship based on our belief in the absolutely positive experience we knew a student at Gettysburg would have."

A management major at Gettysburg, Stewart Petrovits '91 attributes his career success to every facet of the College's liberal arts education. "My dad referred to it as 'learning how to eat with a knife and fork,'" says Petrovits, "and while I knew how to do that, he meant that exposing yourself to a little culture and diversity along the way would be a positive thing."

Now vice president of Blacktop Maintenance Corp., which he owns with his father and sister, Petrovits has done site development and paving work on many college campuses in the course of his career. "I have yet to see one as consistently neat and with the genuine character of Gettysburg," he says.
Returning to campus for alumni functions reminds Petrovits not only of Gettysburg's beauty, but also of the lifelong friends he made here. Those attributes—along with the spirit of current students on campus—are what motivate him to give back to the College.
